About
Karem Muksed, LCSW
Relationship Therapist · Chicago & online throughout Illinois
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the creator of The ACT Crucible: a therapeutic method that integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Crucible Therapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating relationship distress, trauma, anxiety, depression, and the patterns that keep them stuck.
I graduated from The University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, and have completed fellowship training in DBT at The Family Institute at Northwestern University as well as training in ACT and ongoing supervision. My work is relational, values-driven, and informed by trauma research as well as contextual behavioral science.

Multicultural & Arabic-speaking therapy
An Iraqi-American therapist who grew up between worlds.
I'm an Iraqi-American therapist who grew up in Chicago speaking Arabic and Spanish, and I've lived across Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. I offer therapy in both Arabic and English.
That background shapes how I work. I understand first-generation and immigrant experiences, the weight of family expectations, the complexity of cultural identity and belonging, and the dynamics of intercultural relationships.
