Therapy for Infidelity and Affairs Chicago
Therapy after an affair, betrayal, or painful disclosure.
Infidelity can unsettle your sense of your partner, your relationship, and your own reality. Therapy offers a place to slow down, understand what happened, and decide what comes next with greater honesty.
In person in Chicago · Online throughout Illinois
I work with couples and individuals at different points in the aftermath of infidelity: immediately after discovery, during difficult disclosure conversations, or years later when the experience still feels unresolved.
The goal is not to pressure you to stay together or separate. We make room for the impact of the betrayal, meaningful accountability, and the questions each person needs to face before repair or a clear decision can become possible.
Common concerns
What we can work through together.
- Recent affair discovery or disclosure
- Betrayal trauma and emotional shock
- Questions about what happened
- Accountability without defensiveness
- Rebuilding trust and emotional safety
- Deciding whether to stay or separate
- Recurring triggers, fear, and uncertainty
- Repairing intimacy after betrayal
- Past infidelity that remains unresolved
- Supporting the partner who had the affair in taking responsibility
What therapy looks like
I tailor therapy to your own learning history and needs
We usually meet weekly for 50-minute sessions. Longer Relationship Intensives may be helpful when you need focused time for a disclosure, a major decision, or a conversation that cannot be rushed.
Early sessions may focus on stabilizing the immediate crisis, clarifying what each person needs, and creating conditions for honest conversation. Over time, we may explore the relationship patterns around the affair while keeping responsibility for the choice to have an affair clear.
For some couples, the work leads toward rebuilding. For others, it leads toward a more honest separation. Therapy supports a thoughtful process rather than deciding the outcome for you.
My approach
I use The ACT Crucible.
I use The ACT Crucible and process-based methods to help each person stay connected to themselves while engaging honestly with the other. This work can strengthen emotional regulation, self-confrontation, accountability, and the capacity to tolerate difficult truths without turning away.
